Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler
July 4, 9:30 a.m., Brattleboro, Vt.
The Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler is a 4-mile point-to-point race that begins at Living Memorial Park, travels through downtown Brattleboro and ends at the town common. Each mile is marked. There is one water station at Mile 2. Water and light refreshments are provided at the finish. Prizes for the male and female overall winners, and the winner of each age group (1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+).
In order to minimize impact on the environment, the race features local or organically produced food, compostable cups at the water stop and reusable water bottles at the finish (to be taken home by the runners).
Cost: $10 for online preregistration, closes at 1 p.m. on July 3; $15 on race day.
Registration and start location: Living Memorial Park, Brattleboro, Vt.; registration opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 9:15.
